Tourists like to visit the spa of DUDINCE lying on the foothill of the Krupinská kotlina basin. Its good position and warm stable climate contribute to the environment that offers relaxation, rehabilitation and therapy.

The effects of the local thermal water were known as early as the Roman era when 32 Roman baths were carved here into the travertine rock. Temperature of mineral water in Dudince is 28.5 degrees of Celsius and it contains six critical mineral elements required by the human body.

Leisure time and Trips

There are diverse possibilities, how to spend the leisure time in Dudince. Besides of sport (minigolf, tennis, volley-ball, table tennis, billiards, swimming, cycle-tourism, tourism) it is relaxing, trips to cultural and historical sights etc. Also for guests, who like a bit of social activities, are organized dancing parties with live music, concerts, folklore appearances, movie showings in the cinema or in summer amphitheatre, expositions and others. The public swimming pool in Dudince is open from May to September. We recommend to see the Roman baths in spa Dudince, it is actually 32 pools carved to a travertine rock, where the soldiers of Roman legions used to bath. Hotels and spa houses are regularly oranizing trips to the near surroundings to historical, cultural sights and other curiosities, e.g.:

BRHLOVCE (15 km)

Rocky dwellings – the exhibition of the folk architecture and housing – monumental reservation
The rocky dwellings originated in the 18th – 20th century. The unit of rocky dwellings were sculpted into tufa. Particularly, they can be found on Surda street. Many of them are used for housing, others serve as wine cellars and for other economic purposes. The exposition of folk housing is situated in the house dated in 1932 and in 5 rooms sculpted into tufa rock at the end of a yard.
The exhibition displays individual folk style of housing in the village and its neighbourhood. Among the most interesting showpieces of this exhibition are stone tools, folk furniture, pottery products, kitchen inventory.
Just for interest: Brhlovce was one of 6 stonemasonry centers in Slovakia. Monumental reservation of rocky dwellings is unique example on our territory.

BANSKA STIAVNICA (35 km)
Historical town reserve
This locality was registered in the UNESCO List of cultural and natural heritage at the end of 1993.
Banska Stiavnica is an old mining town. The territory was settled already in the neolit, the first written notes are dated to the beginning of the 12th century. The privileges of a royal town were bestowed even before the Tatar invasion, before 1241. The base for the town´s development were the rich deposits of silver, gold and other ores. Already in the end of the 13th century, 5000 kg of silver yearly was mined. In the Middle Ages, Banska Stiavnica belongs to the most important mining centres in Europe and was the second biggest town in Ugria. There are 339 sight objects, 13 of them are national cultural sights. The most of them build the historical town reserve. To the most important ones belong Old and New Castle, Mining Court, Chamber Square. Here are placed the expositions of the Slovak Mining Museum, one of the most important museums in Slovakia. Besides of these sight objects, noticeable churches have been preserved. The Gothic church of St. Katherine from 1488 - 1491 (in the interior are wall-paintings from year 1500, on a surface of 90 sqm), Roman church with Empire repair, original Gothic Town-Hall, Piarg Gate (part of town fortification), Plague Pole, Klopacka (tower-object, from which the miners were called to work through clacking). There remained a lot of mining objects in the surroundings, the most interesting ones are in the open-air museum below the Klinger sea.

ST. ANTON (30 km)
Manor house – museum – National culture monument
Manor house Antol was built up in the 18th century on the place of medieval castle by The Kohary family. The original preserved interior is available on the first floor of the manor house. Particularly, the most impressive of all is the Golden saloon, also called the Marie Antoinette´s saloon (furniture was a wedding gift given by Marie Terese to her youngest daughter), the Chinese saloon originated in the first half of the 18th century and the Audience chamber in a style of Louis XIV. The last owner of the manor house – Bulgarian czar Ferdinand Coburg completed the house with a considerable mobiliari.
The visit of the manor house continues by the exhibitions of the museum. The collections of hunting arms, ammunition, hunting outfits are presented from the rich funds. The zoological collection containing the birds collections, more than 2000 trophies of various hunting animals, the collection of abnormalities and so on is also very abundant.
Just for interest: The four wings of the building represent four seasons of the year, 12 chimneys represent 12 months, 52 rooms represent the weeks and 365 windows represent the days of the year. The gian sequoia, which was planted in 1878 by Filip Coburg on the occasion of his son Leopold´s birth, grows in the park.
At the beginning of September there are usually some attractive hunting feasts – "The Saint Hubert´s days" and "Fantastic forest" for children in June, both held in the manor house.

Manor-house Topolcianky (70 km)
Visit of the manor-house built in renaissance-baroque style with a classicistic annex, with expositions of historical furniture, paintings, porcelain and marvellous English park.

ZVOLEN (40 km)
National museum
In the museum are exposed creative, archeological, historical and ethnographic collections.
Just for interest: treasure of bronze swords, shield of an warrior.

Zvolen Castle
The castle belongs to the top works of the Gothic architectonics of the second half of 14th century. The castle is enclosed by a fortification with four cylindrical bastions and a prismatic entrance gate.
Interior: On the ground-floor of the castle, there is an exposition of the Lapidar Gothic art, on the first floor, there is European art of 16th - 18th century from collections of the Slovak national gallery in Bratislava. The Gothic knight hall is used for representative occasions. Very interesting is also the baroque hall with the ceiling devided into 78 fields, in which are chronological assorted pictures of Roman and German emperors. The last one of them is Charles VI.
Just for interest: south from Zvolen are ruins of Pusty hrad (Waste castle), in these ruins appear wraiths of the old man and his daughter. The cruel castellan Zurzor fell in love with the daughter of an old fisherman, and he wanted to get married with her. But the fisherman did not agree. The castellan decided to kill the old man, but the arrow hit his daughter. The castellan jumped into the Slatina river and drowned, the old fisherman died through sorrow. The wraiths walk through the castle, everything they touch grow white. The wraith of the girl is rumoured to leave a carpet of Jordans behind herself.

BANSKA BYSTRICA (60 km)
The ancient mining town Banska Bystrica is the business and cultural centre of the middle Slovakia. The town´s settlement began in the Stone Age. In the centre dominates the national cultural monument - the castle from the 14th century. Its oldest building is the original Late-Romanesque church from the first half of the 13th century, slovak church of the Holy Cross, castle fortification, renaissance and baroque burgher´s houses. The towns Clock Tower is residue of the baroque town hall. There are a couple of museums in the town. Besides of the national Middle-Slovakian museum it is the monument of the Slovak national uprising, Literary and musical museum, Regional gallery and manor-house of the Tihainys in Radvan with an exposition of natural science.

Arboretum Mlynany (70 km)
The collection of trees founded in 1892 the knowing dendrologist Dr. Stefan Ambrozy - Migazzi. From 1953 it is in administration of the Slovak academy of sciences. From 1967 in arboretum is the Institute of dendrology SAS.
On a surface of 55 hectares are 2183 types, varieties, forms and cultivars of trees and bushes - 355 coniferous, 1828 foliaceous and 409 evergreens. In this collection are plants from Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.

ESZTERGOM (50 km)
Walking in the previous royal town at the Danube, visit of the basilica, residence of archbishop, visit of the crypt, where are the remains of the highest clerical dignitaries, visit of the basilica´s treasury.
These are the most favourite routes. If interested, there is possible to organize trips to other regions according to individual wishes of guests.

Thermal swimming pool Podhajska
In south of Slovakia, in a quiet village is a considerable thermal swimming pool with strong curative effects - Podhajska. You can find here a couple of pools with curative thermal water, with a temperature of 33-36°C, therefore it is possible to bath during the whole year. In its concentrated form, the water composition is similar as in the Dead Sea in Israel - this water is useful for healing of dermatological diseases, diseases of locomotive apparatus and blood-vessels. In the whole region is none industry, which would polute the air, therefore it is the right place for people with respiratory troubles.
