The spa town of Piestany, with its symbol of the Statue of a man breaking the crutch, offers the possibility for its guests to heal rheumatic diseases, locomotion diseases or post-accident conditions.
It is assumed that the curative springs of Piestany were discovered by the Roman soldiers almost two thousand years ago. The hydrosulphide thermal water springs from tectonic breaches from a depth of about 2000 m. Its temperature on spring is 67 - 69°C.
The unique local phenomenon is the spontaneous regenerating resource of curative mud as a product of the interaction of the Vah river arm biotop, mineral water, which flows into the river for ages, and sediments of the riverbed.
This mud is used for partial and whole-body wraps, which have curative effects on inflammatory diseases unique in Europe, and probably in the whole world.
The cultural life of the town offers different festivals, appearances of different folklore groups, exhibitions and a rich offer of theater and music appearances.

Piestany is a resort to which always it would be desirable to return. All is pleasant: Spa island, hotels, procedures and, of course, people. One afflicts - holiday comes to an end quickly.

I can say that the people were helpfull everywhere,whether it was in the restaurants or in the stores.The Slovaks seem to have a cheerfull disposition and difficulties to communicate are overcome with broad smiles and laughter.I hope to come back there some day soon.The only thing that is a bit of a disappointment is that Hotel Park is not connected to the Hotmineralwater.But the med. staff is very good and Dr.Viera Vlckova gave much appreciated advice.As a matter of fact I heard from patients of other spas on the island of insuficient med.advice or hardly any. For the weather I won't make anyone responsible especially since it was more springlike there than anywherelse in Europe.The food was good and plentyfull so was wine and beer and what low prices.So I left always generous tips,no wonder I was always asked to come back.Just loved the people and the new Art Center in Bratislava.Saw The sleeping beauty ballet enjoyed it very much.
