Acupressure - pressure-massage
Acupressure is useful to supplement massage, however it is used also independent.
Besides of acupuncture and moxa treatment, acupressure was always the inseparable part of traditional
Chinese medicine. It originated on the same theoretical principles as acupuncture. Unlike from acupuncture, it uses fingers instead of needles to irritate the acupuncture points. by treatment there are used the same active points as by acupuncture.
However, it has to be remarked, that acupressure indications of these points are often different from indications of acupuncture points, and thus the needle can not be replaced throughout by the finger pressure. Though, knowledge of points and paths is unthinkable for using of acupressure! Outgoing from the theory of contradictions, for acupressure is valid also the method of stimulative and sedative effect of treatment.
By acupressure, the finger pressure has to be constant, vertical to the point area, without massage and frictional movements. The method is rather simply, without risk, it does not need special practise, and in some cases, the sick person is able to realize it himself. Because of its not-invasion character, it is suitable as a treatment for children, old people and for persons extremely sensitive, who are afraid of needles.
It is used e.g. by neck-spinal aches, back aches, croup aches and against fatigue.
Duration is: 15 - 30 minutes.
