Acupuncture
Classic acupuncture, which is several thousands years old, is one of the oldest and most popular methods of traditional Chinese medicine. The oldest manual of acupuncture describes 365 points on the surface of the body and in the year 1026 there were described ca. 600 acupuncture points. Its indications include especially different types of neuralgia, headaches, migraines, painful states of spine and joints and a lot of vegetative disorders. In classic acupunture, the acupunture points stimulus is performed by using special acupunture needles. Another method used especially in Eastern Asia is so-called moxibustion (moxa). The method often used here is a stimulus by palpation (acupressure) which can be performed also by the patient himself (autoacupressure). Acupunture can be performed only by a doctor with the licence for this kind of treatment. It is an above-standard kind of treatment which is extra-paid. Acupunture points can be stimulated also by percutaneous stimulus using electric current (electropuncture) or by transcutaneous electrical stimulation of the inserted acupunture needles (AKU-TENSE). The stimulating of the acupunture points can be done also by using laser (laserpuncture) or by using small doses of medical carbon dioxide (pneumopuncture). The whole-body acupunture is used especially in the therapy of painful muscles and functional disorders of inner organs with vertebrogenic algic syndrome and neuralgia. Ear acupnture is often a part of treatment of different kinds of addictions like smoking or to fight overweight. Contraindications: bleeding states, festering, fear of needles. Read more Hide
