Gaseous dry carbonic bath (CO2)
It is applied to the whole body or just partially (to extremities). The patient´s body (or only extremities) is closed into a special plastic bag, which is then filled with ca. 125 l of carbon dioxide, of which about 2 l are absorbed through the skin surface. The medium used is 95-100% - carbon dioxide. The warmth gathered in the closed space of the plastic bag results in the constant moistening of carbon dioxide.
Effects:increased hyperemia of the body organs, brain and muscle tissue, caused by blood vessels extension (including capillaries). This can have a positive influence on flow properties of blood, improves coronary hyperemia of myocard and related improvement of heart activity. It can also lower the blood pressure and improve hyperemia of extremities and cause decrease in edema.
Other effects: increased elasticity of erythrocytes, increased production of cell glycogen, positive influence on cirsoid complications, positive influence on the skin in cellulite, hyperpigmentation, in creation of old-age naevi, improved healing of defects, decubitus, burns, scar softening and improved healing of the skin
This procedure needs comfort and it can be accompanied by relaxation music.
Indication: This procedure is suitable for all groups of patients, especially for those with heart and blood-vessel diseases, with vascular diseases of the brain, for those suffering from hypertensia, varicose veins, vascular complications of diabetes, osteoporosis, those with spinal diseases, but also for patients with after-surgery, after-injury or rheumatic diseases of the locomotary apparatus. The gas stimulates the production of testosterone and estradiol, that is why it is sometimes used for improving sexual functions in men and for reducing climacteric problems in women.
