Mud pool is a unique in the world pool bath, with a natural bed made from 10 - 30 cm layer of original Piešťany sulphuric mud, with penetrating hot thermal mineral water springs, and the water layer reaching approximately 50 – 90 cm above the sulphuric mud. The temperature of the mineral water varies from 39° to 40°C, sometimes reaching locally higher levels in places above the springs. Patients in the mud pool stand, slowly walk or sit on the edge of the pool. They can practice the mobility of their joints, mainly of upper extremities, application of the warm mud on the body, etc. The duration of the bath is strictly individual, in average it lasts 5 – 8 – 10 minutes, and is subject to the doctor's prescription. The procedure ends with a shower and up to 15-min dry wrap. The doctor on duty can prescribe a combination of this procedure with a bath in the "mirroring pool" and the follow up classical massage.
