Treatment with Parafango is the original form of local application of heat through application of parafango film, approximately 1 cm thick, applied at the moment when it begins to harden.
According to the original technology the parafango is made as a mixture of dry matter from the mud and a clean hard paraffin and paraffin oil. The mixture is melted and heated in a special mixing unit.
It is a more patient-friendly local heat load applied on the body, and since it is not the plain paraffin, the amount of delivered latent heat during hardening is lower.
Part of the heat is delivered to the body through conduction from the preheated mud component. In addition to that the heat is delivered also through direct heat flow and convection.
The temperature of the film at the moment of application is around 50-55°C.
Indications, effects and counter-indications of this therapy are similar as those applicable to paraffin therapy.
The procedure lasts 20 minutes and it has to be prescribed by a doctor. Since the heat load is patient friendly, the procedure is freely saleable.
