Mouth irrigators have been developed as a supplement to classic methods of mouth hygiene. Their importance lies in the ability to remove food debris from the hard-to-reach parts of the mouth, such as dental crowns, wire tooths and back part of the mouth. They help to remove dangerous metabolic products which produce bacteria of the dental plaque, and this way reduce the risk of gum inflammation. Irrigation increases the supply of antibacterial solutions to the edge of the gums and effectively eliminates dental plaque. Another very important effect of the dental shower is their massage effect. THe stream of water springs in short intervals which stimulates and massage the gums - this way the blood circulation is optimalised. It results in hardening and fortification of the gums. Healthy gums become more resistant to fight the dental plaque and inflammation.
